Pete Marlin Monismith joins Elliott & Davis, PC

The Law firm of Elliott & Davis, PC is pleased to announce that Pete Marlin Monismith has joined the firm as an Attorney. Mr. Monismith practices in the area of civil litigation. As a previous insurance defense attorney, as well as a civil litigator for plaintiffs, Pete brings an extremely diverse and interesting background to the firm. He has practiced throughout Pennsylvania, as well as New Jersey.

Pete began his legal career as a litigation attorney in Harrisburg, practicing mostly in the realm of personal injury and family law. He also handled criminal misdemeanors, landlord/tenant complaints, name change requests, and Protection-From-Abuse matters. For the past several years, he has practiced in the area of insurance defense for firms in both Atlantic City and Pittsburgh. These matters have included vehicle accidents, first party benefits, premises liability, contractual litigation, and products liability.

Additionally, Pete is a retired Major of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Entering the Marines prior to college, he accepted an Officers Commission upon graduation and went on active duty, deploying to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield/Storm. During his last activation in 2004, he acted as the Legal Officer for a counter-drug operation in Peru alongside 11 other Central and South American military units.

Mr. Monismith brings with him a strong commitment to community and pro bono service. He was the recipient of the Dauphin County Pro Bono award from 2001 - 2003. He was also a volunteer at the Loaves and Fishes homeless shelter in Lansing, Michigan, assisted undergraduate students with landlord issues at the Housing Resource Center in East Lansing, Michigan, and involved in the Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation. While on active duty, he offered his services to the North Carolina Coastal Federation in support of preserving our coastal water lands, as well as assisted the South Carolina A.C.L.U. in the drafting of "Know Your Rights: A Guide for Public School Students."

Mr. Monismith graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Pete received his Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law.
